It’s a new year full of new opportunities.

I’m excited. Are you?

With strong market conditions projected throughout the year, I see no reason why you can’t make 2022 your absolute best year ever.

But it’s not going to happen by accident. You’ve got to make it happen and give yourself every possible advantage. That’s why today, I’m sharing four simple hacks to help achieve your goals in 2022. When you follow this advice, you’ll maintain greater focus on your goals, making them much more attainable.

Ready? Let’s do this!

Before I Get to the First Tip…

If you haven’t set goals or you’re not entirely committed to the goals you’ve created, you’ll want to download our Ultimate Goal-Setting Guide to make sure you’re doing it right. This free resource will give you access to a webinar from four top coaches and valuable tips to help set – and achieve – truly life-changing goals.

Goal-Achievement Hack No. 1: Get Scoreboards in Your Face!

You’ve probably heard me talk about getting your goals “up and visual.”

What do I mean by that?

I want you to constantly visually remind yourself – and your team, if applicable – of what you’re aiming for! And your progress!

Post a scoreboard or multiples throughout your office so they’re unavoidable.

Keeping your goals in your head or tucked away in your desk isn’t going to inspire you the same way that seeing a giant wall tracking your progress will…

Whether you go high-tech with screens displaying your progress or old-school poster-board and pen, you need to keep these visual reminders in front of you at all times.

Not only will they motivate you every time you see one, but they announce your intentions to the world around you. (Which touches on hack number four, but I’m getting ahead of myself.)

Goal-Achievement Hack No. 2: Work from Checklists

Achieving all of your goals will require you to be in massive action… and not just any action, but focused action on specific tasks that truly move the needle.

So you need to know exactly what those tasks are and do them consistently.

Start by looking at each goal you’ve set for yourself and reverse-engineer all the steps needed to get you there. Those become your action items on your daily and/or weekly checklists.

As a real estate agent, you get pulled in too many directions to work from memory and hope you get around to performing these essential tasks.

Create the checklists. Follow them. Live them.

Goal-Achievement Hack No. 3: Belief

Did you happen to catch part two of my podcast with therapist John Jolliffe? For me, one of the biggest takeaways was this thought:

“All people have as much self-confidence as everybody else. That’s the truth… But there’s two types. There’s negative self-confidence and positive self-confidence.”

He went on to explain that those with more negative self-confidence end up falling short of their goals because they don’t believe in their abilities. Or they’re afraid to take the required actions to make them a reality. Those with positive self-confidence see the possibilities and take the actions to achieve their goals.

So here’s the thing: Confidence works both ways. Are you confident you’re going to succeed and achieve your goals this year, or are you confident that you’ll probably fall short because things never go your way and chances are slim things will work out, blah blah blah?

If you feel like you’re lacking that positive self-confidence, something needs to change. Either adjust your goals so they’re more realistic or adapt your mindset so you can pursue them with every ounce of energy you’ve got. Don’t underestimate the power of using daily affirmations to convince yourself that you’re worthy and you will achieve your goals. Make affirmations part of your morning routine to start your day powerfully!

Goal-Achievement Hack No. 4: Find Accountability

If you’re fully committed to achieving your goals in 2022, you need one of two things: tremendous discipline or some sort of accountability partner. Or ideally, both. (Yes, I know that sounds self-serving. I also know it’s the truth.)

Clearly I’d love for you to join coaching, but accountability can take many forms. You can…

  • Announce that if you don’t do certain actions or don’t meet certain milestones, you’ll write a fat check to an opposing political party, or an organization or individual you wouldn’t typically want to support
  • Connect with a like-minded colleague and touch base with a quick phone call every morning to review what you accomplished and what you didn’t from your daily checklist
  • Organize a contest among a group of agents where those who underperform treat the top performers to some sort of event, fancy dinner, etc.
  • Share your detailed ambitions with your broker or manager and ask her or him to check in periodically to make sure you’re staying on track
  • Involve your loved ones and reward them as you achieve your goals and/or fail to perform the actions you committed to (For example, every time you don’t make your calls, you owe each of your kids $50)
  • Hire a coach

Whatever method you choose, make sure to seek out some form of accountability… it will make a huge difference in creating the consistency necessary to achieve your lofty goals in 2022.

I sincerely hope you find a way to integrate all four of these hacks into your 2022 routines. Remember: Done is better than perfect. Your scoreboards don’t have to be fancy or elaborate; your checklists should be easy enough to figure out; belief in your ability is up to you – and if it’s not where you want it to be, let’s talk; and I’ve given you enough options for accountability that you shouldn’t have a problem making one of them a reality.
