You’re “busy” all day long…
But do you ever feel like your parking brake is on, holding you back from reaching your full potential?
You’re putting in the effort, but the result is sluggish, inefficient and slow?
You can try to ignore it, continue doing your thing and “shake it off.”
But here’s the problem: What stops you here, stops you everywhere.
I want to share with you three action steps to release that parking brake and get you racing down the highway at full speed.
Identify the Resistance
When it feels like your parking brake is holding you back, there are two primary causes:
Decisions that need to be made
Each of these create open loops that weigh on you every day. The more of them you have, the more weight you carry on your shoulders.
All that weight is slowing you down.
Let’s focus first on handling the incomplete projects…
3 Action Steps to Get You Moving
Make a list of all your incomplete projects, both personal and business.
Prioritize the list. If you struggle to figure out which is more important, rank them by this simple question: “What’s going to move the needle most?”
Create the first action item you can take immediately – or at most, within 24 hours.

What are the decisions that you’ve been holding off on?
Big. Small. It doesn’t matter. All those decisions you haven’t made are also open loops, also weighing you down and slowing your progress. The longer you carry them around, the more of a burden they become.
I can’t make all those decisions for you. But I can share some inspiration to get you to finally decide.
This quote from Johann Wolfgang von Goethe pretty much spells out why it’s time to make those decisions and move on: “Until one is committed, there is hesitancy, the chance to draw back, always ineffectiveness. Concerning all acts of initiative and creation, there is one elementary truth, the ignorance of which kills countless ideas and splendid plans: that the moment one definitely commits oneself, then providence moves too.”
Close the Open Loops
Anytime you have open loops in your life, you’re not operating at maximum efficiency. Use the advice above to complete those projects that you’ve been avoiding, add some much-needed decisiveness and move forward with a clear vision for your future.
So here’s my challenge to you: For the first 12 weeks of 2021, feature a local business that could use a “leg up” in some way. Maybe it’s a treasured local restaurant. A favorite store. Or a service or venue that’s had to close its doors because it’s deemed “non-essential.” Whatever the case, rally […]
I know a lot of people who achieved truly extraordinary sales years in 2020. Yet back in early/mid-March, many of those same people felt frozen in their tracks, wondering if they’ll be able to sell another house until the pandemic was over. So what changed? They got resourceful. They innovated. They adapted. And perhaps even […]
