Studies show that when you know how to visualize and do it regularly, a new world opens to you – the world you want to build starting this year.

Welcome to 2024! As we’ve been talking about, this will likely be a determining year for a lot of agents, one that can open up massive opportunities and set the stage for years to come. That’s why I’m starting this year off with a vitally important topic that too many agents dismiss – how to visualize.

In this blog, I’ll show you how to transform your productivity, health, confidence, relationships, and financial abundance using the power of creative visualization.

But before we dive into the “how,” it’s important to understand the “why.” Let’s dive right in…

The Power of Visualization

In 1996, the University of Chicago did a study where they had three randomly selected groups of people shoot basketball free throws. The researchers tallied their scores and then gave each group instructions before coming back 30 days later:

  • The first group was told to do nothing other than to not play basketball.
  • Group 2 was told to practice free throws for 30 minutes a day.
  • Group 3 was told not to actually practice but to mentally visualize themselves making free throw shots for 30 minutes a day.

When they returned, Group 1 had no change and Group 2 showed a 24% improvement. But here’s where it’s really interesting… Group 3, who had not touched a basketball but visualized successful free throws, came in razor-close with a 23% improvement.

And there are tons more studies such as this one that show that visualizing success can repeatably lead to improved performance.

So convince yourself if need be, and then let’s dive into the steps of how to visualize more wins into reality throughout this year…

How to Visualize, Step 1: Set Your Goal

It always comes back to goal setting, doesn’t it? That’s because your goals are your map to getting what you desire, your intention for your life. Visualization is tool to help you reach them faster.

Because visualization is the act of mentally experiencing what hasn’t happened yet, you need to be super specific about what you want in order to paint the picture in your mind.

Don’t say you just want more money – say what you’ll do with that money and how you’ll live when you have it. No matter what it is, you need to “show” not “tell” yourself.

How to Visualize, Step 2: Relax Deeply

From ancient wisdom to modern science, relaxation has always been known as the key to accessing our inner genius. That’s because when we relax, our brainwaves slow from the beta frequency into alpha – which some call the “flow state” and science has shown to be the frequency of optimal performance.

When Thomas Edison needed to figure out a complex problem with one of his inventions, he’d think about the issue in a relaxed state in his chair while holding a metal ball in each hand. As he drifted to sleep with his arms over the edge of the chair, the balls would fall onto a metal plate on the floor, waking him up. And as he jumped awake, he’d have his answer.

So, before you begin to visualize what you want, you need to get into a deeply relaxed state to impress these images into your (infinitely wise) subconscious mind. To do that, try this practice…

Sit in a comfortable place in comfortable clothes where you won’t be disturbed. You can listen to relaxing music with no vocals if you want. Start off my focusing on just your toes. Imagine the energy in them. Then release all tension out of your toes. Move up to your feet, then your ankles, your calves, your thighs, and so on, all the way up to the top of your head. Relax every part of your body individually, imaging them becoming very heavy and at peace.

Sounds like a lot, right? Not really. You can do this entire thing in just a few minutes, and it will prime you for the next step.

How to Visualize, Step 3: Create a Scene in Your Mind

This is where you’ll see yourself practicing, succeeding, and living the life you want. Drop right in at the good part where you’re talking with the client and closing the deal. Or picture yourself filming and uploading an Instagram video and then skip forward to when it’s getting a ton of interaction.

And of course, imagine the part where you’re making the amount of money you desire. See yourself living the life you want.

Incorporate all the senses: sight, feelings, smells, tastes, sounds.

If your mind wanders to the negative, just acknowledge it and push it back on track.

How to Visualize, Step 4: Incorporate Gratitude and Affirmations

All of this is about permanently adjusting your subconscious mind to guide you and prime you for massive success, and words have tremendous power over your subconscious.

If you heard Summit 2023 keynote speaker Shawn Achor’s talk on the competitive advantage of happiness and gratitude, you’ll remember why.

While living out these scenes in your head, make declarative affirmations and statements of gratitude in the present tense such as:

  • I’m happy, fulfilled, and making enough money to live the life I’ve always wanted.
  • I’m so grateful that I’ve been able to attract and convert so many new clients.
  • It’s amazing how much money I’ve been able to make since I started posting these videos on social media.

Visualization Alone Isn’t Enough

I’ll say it again… when you learn how to visualize correctly and do it repeatedly, the world opens up to you.

It’s such an underused tool that I hope you take advantage of in 2024, but keep in mind that visualization isn’t enough on its own. You also have to take massive actions, seek out all opportunities to improve your skills and knowledge, and put in the work.

That’s why I’m spending this year traveling around the country on my Roadmap Tour 2024, to bring agents everything they need to help make the goals they visualize a reality.

If I were you, I wouldn’t wait to join.
