Junior Accountant

This position is primarily responsible for providing support to the accounting team for the recording, reporting, analysis, and maintenance of financial information for the company.

Primary Responsibilities

1. Post journal entries to record monthly/quarterly transactions.

2. Reconcile multiple bank accounts.

3. Perform monthly account reconciliations.

4. Record and reconcile credit card accounts.

5. Assist in the monthly financial closings and financial statement preparation, on time and error free.

6. Prepare and maintain all supporting and supplemental financial work papers.

7. Adhere to financial policy; procedures; and proper internal controls.

8. Attendance and on-time reporting.

9. Maintains compliance with company policies, practices and procedures.

10. Participates in proactive efforts to achieve departmental and company goals.

11. Works effectively and communicates clearly with other employees.

12. Handles changing deadlines and priorities.

13. Reviews work for accuracy, completeness and proper authority.

14. Other duties as assigned

Supervision

Works under general direction. Requires only broad guidelines to accomplish objectives. Uses independent judgment to achieve goals.

Education and/or Experience

Bachelor’s degree with a major in Accounting/Finance and three plus years of relevant work experience

  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
  • Strong numerical, analytical, and problem solving skills
  • Ability to communicate and interact with various levels of staff
  • Must be able to work in a fast paced work environment with a strong sense of urgency

Language Skills

Proficient English language skills – written and spoken. Able to read and interpret documents, instructions and manuals. Able to write routine reports and correspondence. Able to speak effectively and communicate clearly on the phone, in person and via email.

Computer Skills

Strong working knowledge of Quickbooks and Microsoft Office applications, including intermediate to advanced skills with Excel.

Planning and Organization

  • Manage multiple tasks in deadline driven environment
  • Must be organized, punctual and responsible
  • Flexible
  • Ability to work independently

Physical Demands

This is sedentary work which requires the following physical activities: reaching, sitting, lifting (≤25 pounds), finger dexterity, grasping, feeling, repetitive motions, talking, hearing and visual acuity.

Work Environment

Well-lighted, heated and/or air-conditioned indoor office setting with adequate ventilation.

The office work environment can be boisterous. Attire is business casual.

Travel

Minimal (less than 5%). May be required to travel overnight – by car or air – to support various events sometimes working in excess of eight (8) hours/day.
