Business Development Representative


The Business Development Representative (BDR) is an external facing role that will identify potential partners, communicate opportunities, and eventually convey final contract terms. The BDR will focus on new business lines and innovative product offerings. Externally, this will involve putting together target lists, making phone calls, and negotiating terms. Internally, this will involve pricing, acting as a PM to make sure new business lines are supported, and working cross-departmentally management to develop new revenue opportunities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
1. Communicate and sell Tom Ferry product offerings externally
2. Develop marketing collateral related to new initiatives
3. Maintain partner relationships
4. Analyzes performance, competitiveness, and trends in the marketplace and develops strategies for assigned product based on research and analysis.
5. Recommends the nature and scope of present and future product lines by reviewing product specifications and requirements; appraising new product ideas and/or product or packaging changes.
6. Assesses market competition by comparing the company’s product to competitors’ products.
7. Provides information for management by preparing short-term and long-term product sales forecasts and special reports and analyses; answering questions and requests.
8. Determines product pricing by utilizing market research data; reviewing production and sales costs; anticipating volume; costing special and customized orders.
9. Maintains compliance with company policies, practices and procedures.
10. Participates in proactive efforts to achieve departmental and company goals.
11. Works effectively and communicates clearly with other employees.
12. Handles changing deadlines and priorities.
13. Reviews employees’ and own work for accuracy, completeness and proper authority.
14. Other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Education and/or Experience
BSc/BA in business administration or relevant field; plus at least two years’ relevant experience

Other Skills and Abilities
• Demonstrated ability in achieving milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets.
• Excellent organizational abilities
• Outstanding communication and people skills
• Knowledge of diverse business functions and principles (e.g. marketing, finance, customer service etc.)
• Working knowledge of data analysis and performance/operation metrics
• Familiarity with MS Office and various business software (e.g. ERP, CRM)

Language Skills
Fluent English languages skills – reading, writing and spoken. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret documents such as technical procedures, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.

Computer Skills
Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.

Planning and Organization
• Must possess excellent follow-up skills
• Ability to multi-task, prioritize and manage time effectively
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and aggressive time lines

Physical Demands
This is sedentary work which requires the following physical activities: reaching, sitting, lifting (≤25 pounds), finger dexterity, grasping, feeling, repetitive motions, talking, hearing and visual acuity.

Work Environment
• Well-lighted, heated and/or air-conditioned indoor office setting with adequate ventilation.
• The office work environment can be boisterous.
• Attire is business casual.

Minimal overnight travel (up to 10%).
